When dedicated hardware earns its place
A dedicated Forex server allocates a physical machine to the deployment. It is useful when a substantial application estate, a need for predictable resource isolation or a custom operating topology justifies the additional administration.
Choose the server around a documented bottleneck. A fast processor can help a compute-bound program, while memory or storage pressure requires a different response. Network placement must still be tested against the broker endpoint.
| Decision | VPS path | Dedicated path |
|---|---|---|
| Workload size | Focused terminal workspaces and incremental scaling. | Larger estates or consolidated application services. |
| Resource control | A defined virtual allocation. | Selection of the physical host specification. |
| Recovery design | Independent instances may be easier to separate. | A separate recovery environment is important if many services share one host. |
| Operational effort | Confirm the virtual environment and management scope. | Also define hardware, storage and replacement responsibilities. |
Build the hardware specification
- Processor: exact model or agreed performance class, core allocation and relevant workload measurements.
- Memory: installed usable capacity, peak reserve and an expansion path.
- Storage: device type, usable capacity, layout and the expected write workload.
- Network: placement, connectivity, addresses and any private connections.
- Operating system: version, licensing and required access arrangements.
NVMe and RAID describe parts of the storage design. Neither establishes that an off-machine backup exists. Ask for backup retention, restore ownership and a restoration check as separate items.
Separate terminal hosting from broker services
A terminal estate runs client workspaces and their programs. Broker applications can include platform components, databases, connectivity services and operational tools. These roles have different dependencies and should not be sized from the same simple terminal count.
Use the MT4 dedicated workflow for a legacy terminal estate, the MT5 dedicated workflow for multi-instance MT5 applications, and broker hosting for component-level infrastructure planning.
Plan recovery before consolidating services
Applications on one physical machine share a host failure domain. Create a recovery sequence: network access, operating system, data, application services and terminal workspaces. Decide which components need an independent copy and how to prevent duplicate live processes during failover.
- Capture a workload and dependency inventory.
- Build and validate a replacement environment with test data.
- Check capacity, endpoints and restoration of required files.
- Schedule the migration and retain a defined rollback route.
- Accept the delivered specification and document operational ownership.
The service scope matrix helps compare self-managed and assisted operation without assuming that physical hardware automatically includes application support.
