Forex VPS FAQ: Setup, Sizing & Operations

Answers to the practical questions that arise before selecting, migrating and operating a trading VPS.

Start with the question you need to resolve

Prepare a useful enquiry

Send the platform, broker server, terminal count, charts and EA dependencies. Describe any analysis jobs or other applications that must run simultaneously. Include a representative CPU and memory sample if you have an existing setup.

If the problem is an error, include the stage where it occurs and the relevant timestamps or log messages. Keep passwords, private keys and confidential client information out of the brief.

Confirm the operating scope

Ask who installs applications, maintains Windows, monitors the terminal and restores backups. A supplied VPS and a fully managed trading environment are not automatically the same service. Confirm the included tasks and charges in the quotation.

Before accepting a migration, verify a demo connection, program initialization, unattended-session behavior, a planned restart and usable backups. Those checks address different failure modes.

Common questions

What is a Forex VPS?

It is a remote server environment used to run trading terminals and supporting programs. You manage it through the access method supplied for the configuration.

Will it keep working when my local computer is off?

A running server is independent of your local computer. The terminal still depends on the server, its Windows session, program state and broker connection.

Does disconnecting Remote Desktop close MT4 or MT5?

A disconnect normally leaves the session running, but test the actual session policy. Signing out or restarting can close applications and requires a defined startup procedure.

How much memory do I need?

Record the intended terminals, charts, EAs and other jobs, then measure a representative workload. A generic terminal count does not establish a reliable capacity.

Where should the VPS be located?

Shortlist regions against the actual broker endpoint, then compare routes consistently. Your own physical location primarily affects remote administration.

Can I host several broker accounts?

Plan distinct terminal instances where needed and confirm platform or program restrictions. Keep their account purposes and workspaces clear.

Does the VPS include EA installation and troubleshooting?

Do not assume that. Application installation, program support and infrastructure administration must be defined in the service scope.

Is a latency or trading result guaranteed?

No universal network-delay or trading-result guarantee is published. Ask for configuration-specific terms and test the intended route.

How do I handle backups?

Define the included or self-managed backup process, keep a usable independent copy and test restoration of the required application state.

What should a quote contain?

The proposed resources, operating environment, region, access, included management, backup scope, charges and applicable service terms.
