Give each MT5 installation a clear identity
Simultaneous MT5 terminal copies need different installation directories. Create an inventory before adding instances: name the purpose, broker server, Windows user, installation path and corresponding data folder. Similar shortcuts and charts are not enough to distinguish accounts during an incident.
Use the terminal’s data-folder location to verify where settings, programs, history and logs are actually stored. A recovery plan that restores only the executable can omit the workspace that matters.
Build a terminal register
| Field | Example label |
|---|---|
| Workspace name | Account workspace A; use your own meaningful identifier. |
| Purpose | Live operations, demonstration or research. |
| Broker destination | The actual account-server name, without a password. |
| Installation and data paths | Both paths, linked to the correct Windows user. |
| Program dependencies | EA, indicators, libraries and activation requirements. |
| Operating owner | The person or role responsible for changes and restart checks. |
Keep sensitive account credentials in an appropriate credential process, not in a public inventory or an initial messaging enquiry.
Budget the combined peak
Two groups can be quiet individually but busy together. Observe the complete running set during relevant sessions, including background programs and scheduled jobs. Record per-core pressure, combined memory and storage growth.
Use the MT5 concurrency worksheet and establish a review trigger when new terminals or programs are added. Avoid promising a fixed account count from the VPS name alone.
Make restarts and transfers predictable
- Keep a recoverable copy of the register and required settings.
- Identify the startup order and which connections need validation.
- Test restoration of one demonstration workspace.
- Migrate or change one group at a time and stop duplicate automated programs.
- Confirm account-server identity, logs and resource use after the change.
For capacity and operating scope, compare MT5 VPS hosting with dedicated MT5 hosting.
