Build the topology from dependencies
Identify which applications depend on which databases, endpoints and service identities. The result determines placement and recovery order. A platform component supplied by another party may constrain the environment or network path; establish that before allocating hardware.
Separate components that need independent maintenance or failure handling. This can involve multiple virtual instances, dedicated hardware or a mixed arrangement. The right topology follows the application requirements and the operating team’s capacity.
Allocate compute, storage and connectivity
- Compute: document the demand of each service and the jobs that overlap.
- Database storage: include usable capacity, write behaviour and recovery consistency.
- Network: map required paths, address allocation and private connections where applicable.
- Access: identify administrators, service identities and the boundaries between layers.
- Monitoring: record what an alert means and which owner investigates it.
Compare dedicated server options where physical resource isolation is relevant. For the wider application project use broker hosting.
Write a restoration sequence
| Stage | Acceptance check |
|---|---|
| Access and connectivity | Administrators and required component endpoints are reachable. |
| Data layer | The agreed recovery copy restores successfully and is usable by the application. |
| Dependent services | The correct service identities and connection settings are in place. |
| Business workflow | A demonstration workflow completes and its records reconcile. |
| Return to production | An authorised owner accepts the result and prevents duplicate live processes. |
This illustrates dependency order. Actual recovery objectives and service commitments belong in the written project scope.
Deliver an operable environment
The handover should identify the deployed configuration, application dependencies, backup arrangements, change process and escalation contacts. Keep project assumptions visible so future capacity changes can be assessed against them.
For branded platforms follow MT4 or MT5 White Label planning. The support matrix separates infrastructure administration from platform and integration ownership.
